So now that I’m living in Bathurst for the
next 6 months Ive managed to drive the legendary track at least twice a week. It’s less than 2 minutes from the house. It’s a public road and heavily policed but it’s still a hoot.
Avalon powahhh

Heavily policed? Like speed limits and such?

The key is to run laps in something useless....I truly enjoyed a couple of laps in a Toyota Dyna...

Any word on how the permanent circuit is coming along?

They are changing Bathurst? Why would they ever do that, that sounds like a horrible idea.

Because they’re not? Read this article: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/motorsport/plans-for-new-20-million-track-at-mount-panorama-20161008-grxwnj.html

Sounds good for the bikes but I doubt the Supercars are going to be too excited about racing in the shadow of a legendary track instead of an additional event on the mountain course.

I’d argue the opposite, it keeps the mountain special with the only major races being the 12-hour and the 1000, like how Le Mans is only used for the 24-heures (and biennial Le Mans Classic). Plus Supercars would run short sprint races on the new track, a race format tried on the mountain in the 90s with little success.
